Scenes, third installment

We are finishing up our holiday up here soon. Some more sights.

One of the best: the My Two Dads scene below. One of at least two sets of gay dads in the nearby town. Nifty.

And today - the 40th anniversary of Woodstock. The fire dept in town is doing fireworks to commemorate.

Next time - we are going to look east of the river towards Barrington-way.

More scenes from our playground near Hudson

Lovely landscape. And nary a citysider around, here amidst the high season even!

iPhone at Wal-Mart a flop?

iPhone isn't in their weekend circulars. And this endcap was looking just plain old lonely. Is there any evidence that the value WMT crowd is really grabbing iPhones? On my recent visit things were more weighted toward burgers and cat food.

A week in Cairo

We've been up all week now, and so far we have done lots off BBQing and swimming. A few games of fetch at the lake. A few trips into Hudson for an antiquing stroll or an ice cream. Saw Olana overlooking the Hudson, painter Frederick Church's estate perched up above the Rip Van Winkle Bridge. The towns of Cairo and Catskill are much less exciting, though even Hudson's charms look pretty offroad compared to Long Island. Quiet! Charming!

This week - maybe some slow food, a river cruise, a trip to Woodstock, and maybe to the horses in Saratoga.
